It was a relief to take a stroll. Nahval quickly put distance between himself and Urenia and Circum after the conversation had swiftly gone downhill. It gave him time to think and ponder alone without anyone rudely butting in on his train of thought without heed.
Nahval decided he needed to find an exit. How had he left last time?
As he scanned the area thoughtfully, Nahval felt the presence of an uninvited stranger. Whether it would be a pleasant or unpleasant surprise, he wanted to find out soon.
“ Please make thyselfe seen . Sneak attacks are cowardly . “
He chuckled softly to himself as soon as he caught a glimpse of the trolls facial fins, mouth screwing into a toothy grin. Never would he think that his first encounter would be with a highblood. Selano straightened his back and quickly regained composure before stepping out from behind the tree.
“Oh don’t flatter yourself, I have no reason to attack,” he said raising up both his hands, “And I am unarmed, see?”
Flatter himself? One could never be too careful regarding such matters! Nahval felt disgusted. It seems that today was fated to be a foul day for him.
“ J see . “
Weapons could be hidden though and Nahval knew all too well that cowardly trolls wouldn’t hesitate to use underhanded tricks. He made a mental note to keep his distance. One could never be too sure of the intentions of others.
“ Thy name then good sjr , jf thov does not mjnd . “
“Didn’t your lusus ever teach you that when asking for someone’s name it is only polite first state your own?” he said with a facetious smile. Selano never had the “pleasure” of meeting (or collecting) from a sea dwelling troll before, however it was no surprise to him to find that they would be somewhat snobbish in nature. The accent of the Shakespearean troll’s words only further proved his preconceived thoughts.
“But I suppose I will just have to make an exception this time.” The ochre blooded troll playfully tipped a non existent hat from his head and gave a slight bow before answering, “Selano Volure, at your service.”
Nahval blinked in surprise, temporarily forgetting his foul mood. ” Djd thov expect me to state my name fjrst thenne ? J had only asked sjnce thov had not offered jt from the begjnnjng . “
Although Nahval wasn’t one who upheld the blood caste system religiously, other trolls usually held his status in esteem. Either that or they hated his guts. However he wasn’t used to being reprimanded and it wasn’t a pleasant feeling.
Returning from his thoughts, Nahval nodded at acknowledgment at the other troll’s introduction. It would do but he would not bow in return. ” J am knownne as Nahual . “
Not wanting to interact with this “Selano” further and feeling his irritation dangerously making its way to the surface, Nahval started to walk away. ” J bjd thov farewell then . “

Land of Knowledge and Storms: nahval: Nahval frowned at the gesture. Conversations were not meant to... ›
Nahval frowned at the gesture. Conversations were not meant to be interrupted and paused in such an untimely manner. He swallowed his words with a slight bitterness.
He remained still as he observed Circum’s interaction with the new troll, “Urenia”. Nahval could not share the same…
“i’m sorry i interrupted you two, you should sit down and i promise you won’t evven notice me!!”
Urenia, being extremely spacey was probably just going to zone out of the conversation anyway. Also, she was a little scared of this troll, she could tell he was a sea-dweller which is a higher up in the hemospectrum so she didn’t know whether he was humouring her with politeness or not and she certainly didn’t want to upset him. When Urenia is frightened, she tends to puff up her cheeks in defence (though it doesn’t work); needless to say, she was puffing vigorously.
On the other hand though, it was so very nice to see Circum again and was studying his features closely. She was constantly inspired by anything that came her way, so she was already mapping out a painting in her brainmeat.
Nahval nodded. His tender ego would be placated with an apology. He took a seat, positioning himself so they formed an awkward looking triangle.
Then glancing back at Urenia, Nahval stared in surprise at her puffed cheeks. What was she doing? Was this a game land-dwellers played in an attempt to imitate marine life which was so coveted and admired?
Her admiration was cute, he’d give her that. It was enough for him to temporarily forgive the abomination which were her horns.
Temporarily.
“ Do not worry abovte jt . The vnexpected twjste jn ljfe js not always negatjue . “
Relieved, she calmed down and ceased puffing. She still continued to look up and down at him; looking up and then putting her head down when he looked back. She was so childish, sometimes it was cute and other times just idiotic. She was waiting for Circum to say something but he didn’t so she spoke up just to break the silence.
“oh g00d!” she offered her hand, in hopes of a friendly handshake but then decided she was being interruptive again. She quickly put her hand being her head and stiffened up.
“That’s the spiwit!” Circum chimed in, grinning at Nahval and trying desperately not to chuckle at the way Urenia was puffing out her cheeks. It was a little bit childish, but he couldn’t find it in himself to fault her for it. Not when she looked so adorable like that. He was silent for a moment then, glancing between the two trolls before a thought occurred to him.
“Oh! I nefew did heaw what you wewe weading. Would you like to shawe it with both of us now?”
Nahval could feel his chest bubble over with pride again as the attention had returned to where it rightfully belonged. On him. All annoyance was promptly forgotten as he lifted the book with deliberate carefulness.
“ Thjs … js a tragedje called Helen of Prospjt . “
He extended the book out for them to see.
“ Haue yov hearde of jt ? “
“is it shakespearean? a play?”
Urenia’s first reaction to hearing about tragedies was to ask if they were Shakespearean. Though, she’d read ‘Hamlet’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and ‘Julius Caesar’, she wasn’t all too familiar with the entire works of Shakespeare. She was so intrigued now, it sounded interesting. ‘Helen’, such a beautiful name; she wanted to ask more about this story but reserved herself so he could explain.
Tilting her head upwards and to the side with a puzzling look, she asked with her expression if Circum had heard of it. He looked like he was holding back giggles and she wasn’t sure why, so she returned her focus towards Nahval but kept a grip one of Circums fingers because even though she stopped puffing, she was still uneasy about this troll. Nahval seemed to be staring at her horns earlier and she didn’t like that, it made her uncomfortable.
“Ah, I’fe heawd of Helen of Pwospit, but I’fe nefew had the pleasuwe of weading it fow myself,” Circum replied, eyeing the book with a blatant mixture of curiosity and admiration. Of course, he’d heard bits and pieces of the legend, but he’d never actually sat down to read the whole thing through.
At Urenia’s inquiry, he shook his head gently.
“Helen of Pwospit is a epic fable, and it doesn’t twuly hafe an authow. It’s owigins hafe been twaced back to Gweece, but not to any one specific twoll.”
Well, this was fun.
Any hope of having an engaging conversation had gone down the drain. Nahval had allowed Circum to explain the book. He really couldn’t be bothered. After all, he didn’t make it a habit to associate with ignorant trolls. He cast a disapproving glance towards Urenia but remained quiet. Perhaps with Circum’s influence she could potentially show signs of improvement. But not now. Not yet.
His patience was running thin and Nahval had no desire to provoke any crude behavior. He was unsure if Circum had felt the tension but Nahval knew he had overstayed his welcome. Conversations were best between two anyway.
“ Feel free to borrowe the book jf yov wjshe . J thjnk J shall be on my way now . Jt was njce meetjng yov bothe . “
Finally he could escape and hopefully return back to the comforting solitude of his hive.

“ Hello . “
Nahval watched her, feeling his shoulders relax slightly as she seemed to show no open hostility. However he did feel slightly awkward as he wasn’t quite sure what to say next. They both seemed to be a good mood and he certainly was not inclined to burst their bubble and dispel their positive feelings.
This turn of events was quite unpleasant for Nahval. A one-on-one conversation gave him the adequate level of comfort and attention that he deemed was healthy. However add another troll in the equation… attention would be spread far too thin. Personal boundaries more likely to be overstepped. Three was a crowd.
They seemed to be a good lot, really, although Urenia’s horns were symmetrical much to his ire, and Nahval knew that being sociable wouldn’t hurt. He hadn’t been sociable in a while.
Plus, Circum had extended an invitation and it would be rude to turn him down with no valid reason. “ I wjll jf thov allows jt , “ Nahval asked Urenia. He had not made a move to sit down just yet. He didn’t want to make the mistake of making assumptions. It would be rude.

Falling into dreams felt like painting a little bit, it was after all an escape, but unfortunately more or less like vertigo. Urenia decided though that it was fun because the last time she was in a dream, she met a variety of new trolls, some of which she likes very much. So…
Nahval frowned at the gesture. Conversations were not meant to be interrupted and paused in such an untimely manner. He swallowed his words with a slight bitterness.
He remained still as he observed Circum’s interaction with the new troll, “Urenia”. Nahval could not share the same enthusiasm for another addition to their conversation. He raised his hackles again, not quite sure whether to expect hostility or friendliness.
So Nahval simply turned to give an expectant look at Circum, one that was calling for an explanation or at the very least a proper introduction.
